Services for Prison Families

At Check In.…You will be greeted by a Shepherd’s Inn Staff. You will receive a room assignment with clean sheets and towels. Please make your own bed.

At Check Out.…Please bring all sheets and towels to the dirty laundry hamper indicated by the resident manager. Please empty all trash and clean your room..

Meals: Breakfast snacks, cereal, milk, juice are usually available free donated by local churches. A microwave oven is available in the dining room. We have canned food and other items that you my warm up for dinner. Sometimes dinner is prepared but you may always warm food available for your family. Everyone is expected to  clean all items used in meal preparations. Residential staff will supervise any dish and utensil washing.

Showers and Bathrooms: Each room has a toilet and sink available for your private use. Showers are located on each wing, we ask that you limit your shower to 10-15 minutes per person. All showers are not always available each weekend. Please check with the resident manager to see which showers are available for your use.

Laundry: Laundry Services are not available at Shepherd’s Inn. A coin operated laundry is available near by.

Personal Belongs: Shepherd’s Inn is not responsible for personal belongs. Please take your personal belongs with you and lock them in your car.  The resident manager can lock your room for you and unlock it for you upon your return if needed. Individual room keys are generally not available. When they are available a $20 Key deposit is required.

Phone Calls and Internet: Check with the residential manager staff about using a phone for local calls or making long distance calls. Calls placed within the US are free. Incoming calls should be directed to 409-736-3980 Wireless Internet Access is available, a username and password will be given upon request. No illegal downloading, hacking, or other illegal actions are allowed will accessing the Internet.

Shopping: A 24 hour Wal-mart is located at the intersection of HWY 365 and HWY 69 about 4 miles from Shepherd’s Inn.

Donations and Fees: All basic services at Shepherd’s Inn are free. We depend upon donations from churches, individuals, and visiting families to stay open. A suggested donation of $30 will help keep Shepherd’s Inn Open. Please consider making a donation of $30 per family per weekend to help us. All services are free and no one is required to make a donation. Any amount will help. We are glad you are here regardless of your ability to help with a donation. If you would like to make a donation to Shepherd’s Inn during our stay please use the envelopes available in the lobby and place your donation in the donation box. Bible Study and Worship: A brief non-denominational time of worship, prayer and devotion is held on Saturday evenings around 6:30pm. Additional Bible Studies may be offered at other times. You are invited to join us in this time of prayer for families, inmates and other needs.

Emergencies: Call 911 for emergencies. The closest Hospital is the South East Medical Center located off HWY 365 and HWY 69 about 4 miles from Shepherd’s Inn.

Guidelines & Rules for Prison Families

Shepherd’s Inn provides  lodging to quests on a donation basis. Guests are expected to abide by the following guidelines to be eligible to use this service.

ATTENTION: Residential Manager and Staff may not alter Guidelines, Policies, rules, hours of operation,etc: Please do not ask. Questions and special needs should be addressed to the Jim Salles.

Room Reservations:  You may make your reservation up to four weeks in advance. Please make your reservation at least one week in advance. Be sure to check the with the Prison Unit  regarding lock downs and Shepherd’s Inn News regarding Closures.

Reservations can be made online or by calling 1-409-736-3980 and leaving a message, a Shepherd’s Inn Staff will return your online reservation or call to verify your reservation has been received and approved.   Reservations made online are given the highest priority and are filled before reservations made by telephone or other means.

The Prison Family Ministry provides lodging to families that are visiting their either federal and state units. Families can stay during visitation days only. Families are required to abide by Shepherd’s Inn Guidelines.
